Food in KC
Al-Habashi

Anyone who has been to the River Market has probably had a good time. Whether you're wandering around looking for produce or just exploring, there is a place you should check out.
In the north-western corner is a little store called Al-Habashi. You need to go there, if you want Middle Eastern food.
I know I wrote about Jerusalem Café last semester, and that is still a good place to go, but if you're not going to smoke hookah, it's worth it to take the bus to the end of the line or drive up to the River Market to go to Al-Habashi.
It's a little restaurant attached to a store that specializes in spices, and you can tell from the food. The hummus is the best I've ever had, and the rice is delicious (flavored with a mixture of jasmine, tumeric, and I believe I detected saffron, though that might be wishful thinking.)
Now, some of you newer readers might wander about how I grade restaurants, but I assure you it isn't just a pair of random numbers--it's out of five, and I judge based on how good the food is, how cheap it is, and how close to campus the restaurant is.
Al-Habashi is among the best on two of those accounts:
4/5.
