"Dear Father,
This flag was flown over the headquarters of the Multi-National Corps-Iraq in honor of you and Rockhurst University. I deployed as a civilian in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. It was a great experience, and I will remember it dearly.
I realize that this would not have been possible without the education and core values I developed as a student of Rockhurst. I thank you for your leadership and for being a great role model to myself and the rest of the Rockhurst community.
Sincerely,
Chris Quante '07"
Also included was a certificate from the Multi-National Corps-Iraq with the Latin phrase 'Sapientia Aedificavit Sibi Domum,' which is part of the University Seal. Translated as "Wisdom has built herself a home," it is a traditional Jesuit value that is practiced here at Rockhurst through its commitment to learning.
Quante exudes not only this value but many others applied by students at Rockhurst, such as: reflection, discernment, striving for excellence, caring, leadership and service.
"He really embodies the 'Men for others' ideal that we hold here at Rockhurst," said Kathy Soloducha of the President's office.
"His trip is a wonderful example of our school's ideals and beliefs put into real world usage."
Though Quante's service reflects Rockhurst ideals, he did so alongside the men and women bravely serving in the armed forces in defense of America.
Their selfless commitment and total devotion allows all Americans the freedom and protection cherished so dearly here in America. You do not have to look very far in order to see the ideals held dearly here at Rockhurst exemplified in their noble service.
