Nov. 14 was a tough day for the fall sports teams as all of them suffered disappointing season ending defeats.

Men’s soccer fell to Lewis in shootouts 4-1 after a defensive battle all game long in the NCAA Midwest regional on Bourke Field. In their NCAA Midwest regional match women’s soccer lost to Northern Kentucky 0-1 in Somers, Wisc. Finally, women’s volleyball was defeated by Indianapolis 0-3 in the opening round of the GLVC tournament.

On the positive side, each of the fall sports teams had a great season. Also, senior goalie Chad Becker was named to the Daktronics All-American first team while senior defenseman Spencer Martens received an honorable mention.

Meanwhile, Nov. 14 was a great day for the men’s basketball team as they knocked off Division I Loyola-Chicago 86-79 in an exhibition game at Loyola. Since then the team has participated in the Hillyard Classic Nov. 21-22 to start off the year, played a game at the Sprint Center and played in the Rock U Harvesters Classic Nov 28-29. In the Hillyard Classic in St. Joseph, Mo., they lost to Northwest Missouri St. 66-85 and defeated Missouri Western 73-72. On Nov. 25 in the Sprint Center, they fell to Central Missouri 62-82 to open the CBE classic. In the Rock U Classic, they dropped the opener to Southwest Baptist 73-101 before beating Missouri Western again 100-89. Their current record is 2-3 with both wins coming against Missouri Western. Sharp shooter Aaron Hill leads the team in scoring at 20.8 ppg while making nearly 49% of his three-point attempts.

The women’s basketball team started off the season on the right foot with wins at Upper Iowa 87-79 in OT on Nov. 15 and at home against Lincoln 65-47 on Nov. 19. However, since then they have dropped three straight, losing to Truman State 74-76 Nov. 22 and both games of the Country Inn & Suites Thanksgiving Classic, 74-95 to Minn. St.-Mankato and 76-82 to Concordia-St. Paul. Their current record is also 2-3. Amy Hake leads the team in scoring with 18 ppg while Julie Cook is pulling down 7.2 rebounds per game.
