The truth is this: RU athletes are only a small portion of the Rockhurst student body. I decided to interview a student who has experienced pretty much all that Rockhurst has to offer.
He has been a part of CLC, Res Life, Alpha Sigma Nu, Players, Social Mentors, Orientation, Student Ambassadors, Voices for Justice, American Humanics, Theater, and Intramural Athletics. Ladies and gentlemen: Kevin Becvar!!!
Did you play any sports in high school?
Answer: I played basketball for a year
What intramural sports have you participated in while at Rockhurst?
Softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and 7-on-7 soccer.
What is the appeal of intramural athletics at Rockhurst to you?
First of all, I love playing sports. Intramural events gives me a chance to take a break from my crazy schedule and relax for an hour.
The competition is good, and I love being able to hang out with my friends while playing these sports.
What is your greatest intramural memory?
My greatest intramural memory was when my team won a basketball game on a buzzer beater my Junior year.
In your opinion, who is the greatest intramural athlete you've ever seen at Rockhurst?
I would say either Kyle Shillings or Bry Jack (Bryan Jackson) because they are consistently good at every sport they play.
If a new blockbuster film were to be made chronicling your intramural career, what actor would portray you and why?
Um... I would say Matt Damon because he always puts forth a good effort in every movie he is in, plus he's really good looking and people say we look alike!
