Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Signing off

Well it's been fun, but before the first issue of next year, I'm graduating. I'm not sure what this means for Somewhere Over the Rainbow, it's been a staple of the Sentinel since before I showed up, but it looks like I don't have a successor. Many older columns are available on the Sentinel website.
But this doesn't mean that those of you who are interested have to go without speculative fiction news or reading. For a dose of weirdness every now and then, you can check out the following websites:
- Io9 (www.io9.com) has many reviews of science fiction and fantasy television, movies, and books. It's one of the first places I go to find out what's what in the world of speculative fiction.
- Futurismic (www.futurismic.com) is a website with many articles on speculative fiction, but also has a new short story every month. It's free, and it's very, very good. They focus on “mundane science fiction” which very strictly holds to real science.
- TTA Press (www.ttapress.com) are the people behind Interzone and a bunch of other magazines. They're in print, first and foremost, but there are a small collection of short stories by well-known authors on the site, and they're quite good.
- Warren Ellis (www.warrenellis.com) is a comic book writer who has been published by both Marvel and DC, and maintains the webcomic “Freakangels” (www.freakangels.com,) which is notable for being released in six-page blocks every Friday. He often posts commentary on his primary website, and is a humorous, clever individual. Please note that, due to his language, this website is very rarely considered work-safe.
That's all, folks. I hope this column continues after I've left, but if not, it's been quite the ride. I've enjoyed writing for you all, and hope you've enjoyed reading this.
If that's all, this is Cameron Summers, saying good-bye.
