A student receives the free H1N1 vaccine provided in the Rock Room.

The frigid winter weather inevitably brings with it head colds and sore throats but this year there is also the threat of the ever hovering H1N1. Rockhurst students and faculty have been ahead of the game thus far, armed with gallon bottles of hand sanitizer and participating in free H1N1 vaccine clinics in the Rock Room. While students are encouraged to take advantage of these tools as well as others, Rockhurst has taken some additional steps to maintain the health and safety of its students. Goppert Trinity Family Care, Rockhurst's preferred provider for student healthcare needs, has extended their hours on Monday through Thursday until 7pm and also are open Saturday mornings. Students may always call during these hours or visit the Goppert website to make an appointment if needed. Student life is also working to update emergency contact information for all students, faculty, and staff of Rockhurst to ensure that they are well prepared to handle any emergency situations. At the end of the semester Oracle Web will prompt users to add or update this information if necessary. Finally, although Rockhurst's final H1N1 vaccine clinic was this past Tuesday, students are still encouraged to receive the vaccination if they have not done so already. These are offered at most doctors' offices and also at many Walgreens locations. Of course students are always advised to continue washing their hands frequently and to stay home if they are truly ill as to avoid infecting any other students. For any further assistance, questions, or concerns, students may always contact the Office of Student Life in Massman 1.
